Our Story

established in the early 2000s

WNY Pagan Pride is an organization that was created to educate the public about what paganism is and how pagans (generally) practice. This is done in an effort to dispel the myths commonly believed about paganism. Pagans are people from all walks of life: doctors, lawyers, secretaries, mechanics, teachers, chefs, CEOs, and much more.  We have conservative pagans as well as liberal and moderate pagan. We live next door and across the street. We may be the person who lives next door to your grandmother and mows her lawn because we know she can’t. We may be that person who volunteers in your child’s school every day. We could be your best friend who has found a spiritual path that resonated with them but doesn’t know how to tell you yet.

WNY Pagan Pride began as a subordinate of the Pagan Pride Project in the early 2000’s hosting Pagan Pride Day events annually. in the past two decades Pagan Pride has gone by many names within the Western New York area. Buffalo Pagan Pride changed its name to Greater Buffalo-Niagara Pagan Pride to include areas outside the Buffalo metropolitan area.

In 2017 the Pagan Pride planning committee changed the name once more to WNY Pagan Pride, to broaden and further define the reach of the organization to the Western New York geographical region.  To further the goal of fostering pagan identity within the WNY region throughout the year WNY Pagan Pride chose to become incorporated in New York and apply for 501(c)3 status.   Thusly, becoming an affiliate organization of the Pagan Pride Project rather than a subordinate.

Our volunteers

The WNY Pagan Pride Board of Directors and Planning Committee is comprised of volunteers within the local pagan community who are committed to fulfilling the mission of the organization.  These dedicated volunteers make it so events such as “Pagan Pride Day” can happen each year, without them there is no Pagan Pride.  These volunteers are responsible for planning and implementing all of the events and activities of WNY Pagan Pride.  They do the majority of the pre-event planning, gather donations, distribute flyers, design promotional materials, advertise, book entertainment, vendors, and speakers.

Our committee meets monthly to plan our year-round events.  To become of member of the WNY Pagan Pride Planning Committee please email us at info@wnypaganpride.org or join us for our next meeting.  Our meeting schedule can be found on our Facebook page, under the events section.
